Joe Michael Wooding, age 55

Joe Michael Wooding, age 55, of Ward, passed away February 6, 2021. He was born September 9, 1965 in Nederland, Texas to James Morris Wooding, SR and Ruby Katherine Griffin Wooding.

Joe resided in Minooka, IL from 1972 to 1984; Baton Rouge, LA from 1989 to 1990; Nederland, TX from 1990 to 2001; and settled down in Ward, AR 2001-2021. He was a Retired Army Veteran as well as a Department of Defense employee. Joe enlisted in 1984 and retired 2008 as a Master Sargent. He served in two wars- Gulf War in 1990 and Iraq War in 2003/2004. Joe was active in his church where he played the guitar and assisted as a Lay Preacher. He was proud to have served his God, his Country, and his Family. Joe was a dedicated husband, devoted father, adoring grandfather, and loving son.

Joe is preceded in death by his father James M. Wooding, SR and his sister Deborah K. Wooding.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Sharon L. Wooding of Ward, AR; mother Ruby “Katherine” Wooding of Ward, AR; sons Joe “Michael” Wooding JR (Tiffany) of McRae, AR, Joshua Wooding (Naommi) of Ward, AR, and Jeffrey Wooding (Brittany) of Austin, AR; siblings Charlotte Lisenby (David) of Nederland, TX, James Wooding JR (Matressa) of Kountz, TX, and Pam Brown (Rick) of Higden, AR; “Papa Joe” to 10 Grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, extended family, church family, and countless brother and sisters in Arms.

Joe’s Visitation will be 11:00am-12:45pm on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Destiny Cowboy Church, 97 Burton Rd, Austin, Arkansas. Funeral Service will follow at the Church, 1:00pm with full Military Honors. Interment will be 12:00pm, Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. All are welcome to attend.

In light of the current health concerns, Joe’s family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers if you are not able to attend the service. Please be aware, as per Arkansas directives, attendance will be regulated in accordance to Arkansas guidelines, all guests in attendance will be required to wear masks/facial coverings and social distancing guidelines will be in place.

The family is requesting in lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Joe’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
