Charles Lewis Coleman, 64, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 23, 2021. He was born January 5, 1957 to Charles and Rebecca Coleman in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the third of his mother’s 5 children.
At the age of 6 years, Charles was blessed with a bonus dad- Robert Newby who raised him as his own.
Charles graduated from Overbrook Highschool in Philadelphia and he then enlisted in the United Stated Marine Corps where he served for 26 years. Charles married Darlene in 1978.They were married for 27 years and had 4 children.
Upon retirement from the military, he continued work for 13 more years at Department of Veteran Affairs. Charles accepted Christ into his life at a very early age and continued his walk with God as a member of Morning Star Baptist Church.
Personally, Charles was a fly dresser and loved nice things! He loved to give nice things to everyone he loved and he loved a lot of people, hard. He was always the life of the party, center of attention, and always down for a dare no matter how crazy.
Charles is preceded in death by his dad, Charles Coleman; bonus dad Robert Newby; mother of his children Darlene Coleman; and son Charles Coleman, Jr.
Charles leaves behind his children Quindale Coleman (Kacey), Charlene Foster (Johnathan), and Charmaine Beasley (Dedric); grandchildren Nevaeh, Takoma, Kingston, Reese, and Cadia; mother Rebecca Newby; siblings Linda Edwards, Rita Davis (Fewcell), Anthony Coleman (Melody), and Robin Bostic; furbaby Zena; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many more extended family and friends.
