Coach Porter was a good coach, mentor, teacher, and an exceptional man. I think back fondly of him during the first years of Southside JHS. He may be gone, but he lives on in every person who had the privilege of knowing him.

Bill was an awesome coach and wonderful family friend. I got to know him as an adult through my father. They were good friends and also shared their love for airplanes together. Bill also led the Memorial Service for my Father ( at Dad’s request) and will always have a deeply special place in my heart and soul. Rest In Peace Bill. You have made a huge impact in many people’s lives.

The best school counselor I ever had the honor to know. Mr. Porter was a kind listener and gentle advisor. I recall my days at Southside Junior High with fondness because of faculty like him. Prayers for the family and may our Heavenly Father bring peace and comfort to those closest to him.
