Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Gary Poland, age 75

Gary Poland went to sleep in the arms of Jesus on Saturday, October 30, 2021. Gary was born in Nevada, Missouri. At age 17, he enlisted in the US Navy and went on to become a decorated veteran of the Vietnam conflict. Following his discharge, Gary trained as a phlebotomist and a nurse, and served in the medical field. Gary raised his family in the backwoods of the Ozarks, organized and led crews of tree planters from Florida to Michigan, and worked in law enforcement. There was no machine Gary met that he couldn’t coax into working order, no invention he wasn’t willing to improve upon, and no challenge he ever backed down from. He is probably best known for the sheer fierceness with which he loved and for the iron strength of his convictions.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his daughter, Melody and her husband, Daniel with grandchildren; Wayne, Casey, Dustin, Jesselee, Brianna, Lionel, Jasmine, Dakota, Julio, Jaime, Preston, Daniel, Timothy, Buchanan, David, and Seraphina. Also his daughter, Sharla Holladay and her husband, John, with grandchildren; Alicia, Caitie, Marissa, and great grandchild, Valeri, all of which loved him very much.
