Velda Jean Barnes, age 73, of Jacksonville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loved ones, on Thursday, November 18, 2021.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cormal and Virginia Adele Curtis, and brother, Jerry Curtis.
She is survived by her son, Charles M. (and Heidi) Barnes and grandson, Jadon Barnes of North Little Rock, AR, sister, Melba Edwards of Jacksonville, AR, nephew Tim (and Brandi) Edwards of Bigelow, niece, Jenara (and Clay) Wortham of Scott, great nephews, Landon, Judah, Jett and Jaxson, great niece, Miranda Wortham.
She worked as an instructor at Pathfinder, Inc. where she loved and cared for the clients for 42 years. Velda loved her family and church family very deeply, with all her heart. They were her world. Throughout her life, she was passionate about her faith. Even in her last days, and with her last breath, she prayed for others, showing us, not only how to live, but how to die.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at A Natural State Funeral Service from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Services will be Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at 10:00 AM, at A Natural State Funeral Service. Embodiment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery.

Velda meant alot to me. Her and her sister Melba trained me when I first started at Pathfinder in 2012. Velda is part of the reason I came back to Pathfinder. She told me my voice was still on the answering machine. Made me happy as she always did everyone. I know she is in heaven loving her Lord, her parents and her love of pigs. I love and miss her like a part of my family until we meet again ❤️
Velda was my staff at Pathfinder for many years. She will be missed by so many. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
This breaks my heart since I didn’t know she was I’ll. She was one of my best friends growing up in elementary and jr high. I loved her and Melba! Still do. Remember Charlie when he was just a baby playing drums at First Asembly. Velda was a lovely and sweet person whom I’ll never forget. My sympathies and love to Melba and all her family. She will be missed but no doubt in the Lirds presence with her parents and brother. I wish I could come to the services but I’m suffering from cancer with no immunity so please understand. Prayers for you all.
Melba I’m so sorry for your loss, your sister was a fantastic lady, that cared for us, at pathfinders. She will be missed. Our tears flowed down our faces friday when we found out about your sister. It still hurts. Take care. We are praying for you.
She was my instructor for many years, and I will miss her deeply. I will also miss her smile. Gods blessing with all of you. My condolences to the family of velda, sorry for your loss.

I always loved seeing Velda and Melba! I knew some laughs were coming every single time. Not many people are so positive and so funny!! Heaven not only received an amazing angel but a court jester. And for sure she will be looking after all of our pets in heaven. I will always have Love and wonderful memories for both Velda and Melba. ❤️❤️❤️
I wish to send my condolences to a very special friend just died recently she was the best at what she did I will miss her forever but I will not forget her she’s the best God be with her family
