Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

James “Jim” Robert Walther, age 74

James “Jim” Robert Walther, 74, of Ward, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 1, 2022. He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on September 3, 1947 to the late Edward Walther and Irene Euker Walther.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Irene Walther; sister Patricia Miller; and grandson Zachary Gaither.

Jim loved to serve his country and fellow man. He served in the U.S. Airforce for many years where he then joined the Jacksonville Police Department. In 1991, Jim retired from the Jacksonville Police Department as a Lieutenant after serving for 20 years.

Jim was always interested in furthering his education in Law Enforcement. He obtained multiple degrees in Law Enforcement and graduated from the FBI Academy in Quantico where he then served as a United States Marshall for 20 years.

Jim was a Master Mason for The Grand Lodge of Arkansas and a member of the National Rifle Association of America. He was also a lifetime member of the Arkansas Municipal Police Association.

Jim was a man who loved with his whole heart. He was always willing to listen, give advice or say nothing. He also gave the best hugs. Jim was a family man. He was not only a husband, but a man fully in love with his wife for 40 years. He was a father who loved his children and his grandchildren from the depth of his soul.

Jim was a provider, a protector, and a gentleman. One amazing thing about this family is that they have a way of making you feel like family; like you belong. Anyone who knew Jim loved and respected him. If you were lucky enough to be looked at as family, he made sure you knew you were loved and he would protect you and treat you as one of his own.

Jim leaves behind his lovely wife of 40 years Shirley Walther; son David Gaither (Julie) of Hensley, Arkansas; daughter Tammy Lackie (Shawn) of Cabot, Arkansas; grandchildren Landon Willbanks, Tristan Gaither, Adam Gaither, Easton McCoy, and Zane Lackie; great-grandchildren Lenny Gaither, Aubrey Willbanks, and Lynley Willbanks; brother Edward Walther (Penny) of Marysville, Washington; sister Janice Stavee of Seattle, Washington; and a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends too numerous to name.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to A Natural State Funeral Service. 2620 West Main Street, Jacksonville, Arkansas, 72076. 501-982-3400. www.anaturalstatefuneralservice.com

Jim was a good and honorable man and officer. I enjoyed knowing an working with Jim. He always something to give and never asked for anything in return. Im glad that I got to see him come to lodge when he was able. I have already notified them of his passing and we will drape the altar in his honor for the next month next Tuesday evening. If the family would like a Masonic Service during the Memorial service please let us know. May GOD Bless Shirley and the family.
