Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Howard Freeman Murff, age 64

Howard Freeman Murff, born August 10, 1957, passed away June 20, 2022 after a long battle with COPD. Howard was born in Jackson, Mississippi, the son of Freddie Howard Murff and Audrey Freeman Murff. After graduating from Jim Hill High School in 1975, he attended Hinds Junior College. Howard worked in several different fields, but eventually found delivery driving to be the most fulfilling. That is where he met his wife, Kaye McManus in 2010. They resided in Pearl, Mississippi until November of 2021 when they moved to Beebe, Arkansas to be near Kaye’s family.

Howard was a loving husband, dedicated doggy daddy, sweet brother/uncle, a loyal friend, an average fisherman, and always enjoyed classic rock and roll music. He also enjoyed time spent with family and friends, and especially time with Kaye & their dog Jesse. Howard will be greatly missed.

Howard is survived by his wife, Kaye, his sisters Kathy (husband Blake) Short of Carrollton, Texas, Marty (husband Russell) Higgins of Plano, Texas, Beth (husband Chris) Barnes of Murphy, Texas; nieces and nephews, Parker (wife Lindsay, daughters Matilda & Marigold) Short of Austin, Texas, Caroline Short of Dallas, Texas, Lydee Barnes McClain (husband Harrison) of Fort Worth, Texas, Logan Barnes (wife Cassie) of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, and Luke Barnes (wife Shelby) of Cibolo, Texas.

A family-hosted celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 11 am in the chapel of First Baptist Church of Jackson, Mississippi. Visitation will be before the service beginning at 10 am in the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the American Heart Association or the SPCA.
