Virginia Lee Everett Gautney, 85, of Lonoke, passed from this life in her home surrounded by loved ones on August 23, 2022. She was born to John and Willie Everett on March 3, 1937 in a small community in Independence County then called Mountain Gap. Virginia worked for many years at Furlow Grocery Store (I.G.A.) with her sister Polly where she was known for making sausage biscuits and homemade pies. When she wasn’t working (which wasn’t very often) she enjoyed spending time outside in the garden or tending to the flowers in her flower beds.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, John “J.T” Gautney, Sr. of Lonoke; her parents John and Willie Everett of Jacksonville and two sisters, Polly Jenkins of Jacksonville and Linda Blevins of Oklahoma.
Virginia is survived by two sons; Richard (Karen) Gautney of Lonoke, and John (Faith) Gautney Jr. of Benton; three granddaughters, Brandi (Parker) Cordell, Erin (Cody) Kindy and Emily Gautney; seven great-grandchildren, Jasen, Carson, Mason, Ella, Luke, Sam and Beau; and a brother Norman (Barbara) Everett of Ward
The visitation will be Friday, August 26, 2022 at 1:00pm, and the funeral service at 2:00pm at New Testament Missionary Baptist Church; 1601 Lincoln St, Lonoke, AR 72086. The burial service will follow at Concord Cemetery in Furlow.
