Joanne Slayter Tullis, age 82, died October 23rd, 2022. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Thomas E. Tullis, son Scott Tullis, and siblings Walter (Buster) Slayter, Donald Slayter, and Judy Karlish and their families.
Joanne was born in El Dorado, Arkansas to James Calvin and Dorothy Imogene Slayter. She was the eldest of four siblings. She played clarinet in the El Dorado Junior and Senior High School band and Southern Arkansas University (SAU) band and went to college on a band scholarship. She was a talented painter with oil and acrylic, playing piano and loved learning about and growing plants.
She started her work life at the McCorys on the Square in El Dorado while still in high school. She got her Associate degree at SAU in Magnolia. After college she went to work for Lion Oil.
She was a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church and participated in the Pine Bluff Art League.
Service to be held at Watson Chapel Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on Monday, October 31, 2022 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
