Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Louise E. Carle, age 67

Louise Eileen Carle shuffled off this mortal coil and joined the choir invisible on January 22, 2023 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Louise Doty Carle and Walter R. Carle, Louise was always called “Bambi” or “Bam” by family and friends. She spent most of her life in California, where she attended Claremont High School, Citrus College and Immaculate Heart College in Los Angeles, studying theater and creative writing. She was a lover of old movies and of all things funny: Monty Python, Felix the Cat, Stephen Colbert, the writer Robert Benchley. Bam was an L.A. office manager for Gov. Jerry Brown during his 1992 presidential campaign. During a stay in Japan, she wrote lyrics (in English) for a Japanese heavy metal band called Loudness. Bam had fans on Twitter who loved, or at least put up with, her excellent policing of grammar and syntax. She had a fierce and undying love of animals, cats especially.

Bambi had an often difficult and unlucky life, with many of her closest friends dying young all along the way. She spent her last years in the grip of spinocerebellar ataxia, a degenerative neurological disease which cost her the control of her body but left her mind, and her sense of humor, intact. She faced this cruel disease with newfound strength, and in her last months she managed, in spite of circumstances, to become kinder, more generous and more forgiving.

She leaves behind sisters Cynthia Carle and Carole Carle Perry, nieces and nephews Marcia Carle, Walter Carle, Jordan Perry, Miranda Perry, JoAnne Kadlecek, Jim Kadlecek, and John Kadlecek, many fine cousins, and many fine friends including Larry Flowers. Waiting for her on the other side, Bam will find a big, rowdy, welcoming crowd including many happy cats and a couple of wacky dogs.
