Charles Robert James, also known as Bobby, was born on August 11, 1934 in Hopewell, Virginia. He left this life and departed for his heavenly home on Monday, February 20, 2023. He was born to Robert Lee and Annie Louise (Thompson) James.
He was a son, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and husband. Mr. James retired from the USAF as SMSGT and is also a veteran of two other branches of the US Military. He served for over 26 and a half years and traveled to many different countries including Guam and Puerto Rico. After his retirement from the military, he began work at the Little Rock VA Hospital where he was a supervisor in the central supply unit for over 18 years.
He is preceded in death by the mother of his children Peggy Ann; his father Robert; his mother Louise; and his oldest son Terry. He is survived by his sister Nancy Pelter; his second wife Elizabeth Temple James; his son David and Steven James; his step-son David Vangorden and his step-daughter Amy Browning; his nieces Valerie and Vickie; his nephews John and Robert; his grandchildren Zachary and wife Brooke, Kristyn, Craig, Josh, Michael, Alexis, Mckenzie, Haylea, Analea, Maddison, Harlea, and Patric; and 8 great-grandchildren.
There will be a visitation on February 28, 2023 from 9:30-10:30am at A Natural State Funeral Service; 2620 West Main Street, Jacksonville, Arkansas. The graveside service will follow at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at 11:00am where Mr. James will receive his full Military Honors.

Will miss you uncle Bob! So many wonderful memories in the summers with the families. You were very special to me, same BD!! God’s peace and rest for you now. Give aunt Anne a hug and laugh from me.
My dad thought a lot of Bobby and even with so many miles between they stayed close. They are hanging out in Heaven now.
I hate to hear this! Bob and Anne will always hold a special place in my heart. David and Steve, I hope you know I would be there but we are currently gone. Big hugs to you both. Much love, Angie
