Douglas “Doug” Vernon Smith, age 46, was born November 16, 1976, left us on May 23, 2023, surrounded by his love Amy, sister Sheila and his sons.
He is preceded in death by his parents Barbara and Vernon Smith; maternal grandparents, Douglas & Florene Short; paternal grandparents, William Lewis & Ella Mae Smith. He grew up in El Paso, Arkansas and attended Beebe Public Schools.
He was an accomplished carpenter and an all-around handyman. He could do a little bit of everything. If it was broken, he could fix it. He could build almost anything. He loved being with friends over a meal he prepared himself, then round the night out with a game of darts. He’d play guitar and entertain. It didn’t matter if he’s known you forever or you’d just met you, he was always willing to help a friend out. He’d literally give you the shirt off his back if he though you needed it.
Doug left behind his love, Amy Jones; 2 sons, Caine (Isabelle) and Connor; a bonus son, Eli Jones; a beautiful granddaughter, Olivia Grace; his sisters, Sheila (Larry) Johnson and Angela (Eric) Stuart; nephews, Johnathan Anderson, Logen (Tia) Caldwell, Hayden Clubb; nieces, McKenzie Caldwell, Sydney Clubb, Makera Johnson and great nephews, Tabor Caldwell, Kendrick Anderson, Keagan Anderson, Chandler Caldwell, Kaiden Howard, Noah Howard, Atlas Clubb and Broly Keister. He also left other family and friends who will miss him greatly.
In lieu of flowers, go out and pay it forward. Help a friend, perform act of kindness, just make a connection with another person.
