Brenda Joyce Law (81) went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 26, 2023, peacefully surrounded by family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior, at First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Arkansas.
Brenda was born in Smackover, Arkansas on November 18, 1941 to Elmer Lee Givens and Gladys Bradley Givens. The summer after her 9th grade year, she met her lifetime love, Donald Wayne Law. She was in the car with her older brother, Elmer, when he offered Donald a ride. They married in 1959. Don and Brenda lived in Jacksonville, Arkansas, though she always considered Smackover her home.
Don and Brenda fostered a Christ-centered home with their three children, full of laughter and fun. Brenda could always be counted on when someone was struggling, whether it be a caring voice or lending a hand. She was an extremely talented seamstress with a flair for design, as well as a model and actress in numerous commercials and theater productions, recognized by her distinctive silver hair. She was warm and loving to many neighborhood kids, cousins, and friends, leaving countless individuals feeling included as family.
Her love for children extended into the classroom where she was a substitute teacher in the Jacksonville Junior High Schools for over 20 years. Her impact is still felt by these adults today.
Brenda was an active member of her church where she built many lifelong friends and enjoyed singing in the choir.
Being a grandmother was where Brenda shined. Every summer, all four granddaughters would visit their Mimi. She always had an art project for them to work on and was the number one fan of the plays they wrote and performed together. They fondly remember the times Mimi let them shower off with the garden hose in the front driveway and the many nights spent gathering on the floor of the den with blankets and bowls of popcorn, ready to curl up and watch a movie. She had the blessing of being a Mimi to the next generation with the births of her great-grandchildren, whom she adored.
Brenda is preceded in death by her cherished Father, Elmer Givens and beloved Mother, Gladys Givens. She was also preceded by siblings Allie Langley, Terrell Langley, and Mary Evans.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Donald Law; her children Angela Holloman (Joe), Tracy Brick (David), and Damon Law (Nancy); grandchildren Emily Fryberger (Chuck), Katlyn Stewart (Jeremy), Anna Brachey (Daniel), and Olivia Brick; great-grandchildren Colton and Landon Fryberger; siblings Elmer Givens and Jerry Givens (Janis).
The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Love and prayers for each of you!
Brenda was a great standardized patient for many years at UAMS. I met her when she applied to the program and she was a favorite of many of our students st UAMS. They referred to her at that nice lady with big white hair and a very southern accent. She was a delight to work with and always spoke highly of her family. May her sweet memory be eternal!
