Carol Lee Simmons, age 81, of Conway, Arkansas passed away peacefully at her home on June 2nd, 2023. She was born on July 22, 1941, in Pampa, Texas to Bert and Nadine Arney. In 1955 she moved to Duxbury, Massachusetts with her family and graduated from Duxbury High School in 1959. She then attended Arizona State University in Phoenix, Arizona where she majored in Language Arts with a minor in Drama.
Carol married Delbert Wayne Simmons in 1968. They raised two children, Delbert Lowell Simmons, and Judith Lene Simmons, and she welcomed her stepson, Terry Wayne Simmons. Carol was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed reading, gardening, auctioning, and spending time with her family. She had three grandchildren, Brandon, Kevin, and Kyle, and five great-grandchildren, Hunter, Riley Grace, Gavin, Charlie, and Angelina.
As a young woman, Carol taught Ballroom Dance and always had a passion for it. She was a devoted Assistant Administrator for Genesis House of Pampa, Texas for several years. Carol was Municipal Court Clerk in Van Buren County, Arkansas, and worked as a court reporter for the State of Arkansas for over 20 years from which she retired in 2008. She was respected and admired by her colleagues and clients for her professionalism and accuracy. She was also involved in many community organizations and volunteered for various causes.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Delbert W. Simmons; her parents Bert and Nadine Arney, her grandparents Lee and Blanche Randolph, and her sister Barbara Ann Arney. She is survived by her children Delbert Lowell Simmons (Del), Judith Lene Simmons (Lene), and Terry Wayne Simmons (Terry), Catherine Simmons, three grandchildren, Brandon, Kevin, and Kyle, and five great-grandchildren, Hunter, Riley Grace, Gavin, Charlie, and Angelina, and many other relatives and friends.

Carol was a special friend to me and she will be sorely missed. I hate that I never got to visit with her in the last few years, but she was, and always will be in my heart. My deepest sympathy and prayers for the family. God Bless.
