Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Hope Elizabeth Holcomb, age 88

Hope Elizabeth Holcomb, a dedicated educator, dog lover, and passionate supporter of the University of Houston, particularly the University of Houston Women’s Athletic Program, passed away on June 16, 2023, at the age of 88 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She was born on September 2, 1934, in Houston, Texas.

While in Houston, Hope Holcomb pursued a Master’s Degree in Education & Art from the University of Houston. She used this love of teaching throughout her career, which consisted primarily of being a physical education teacher and an art teacher, and she positively influenced the lives of her students in the process.

Hope Holcomb never married nor had any children, but she led a fulfilling and independent life. Upon retirement, she moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas, where she enjoyed her free time with her many dogs and neighbors enjoying having Lake Hamilton in her backyard.

Eventually, however, her health forced her to spend the last four years of her life at Lake Hamilton Health and Rehabilitation. The staff at the facility who helped her loved her positivity, boundless energy, and genuine warmth, and all who had the privilege of knowing her loved being around her.

Instead of flowers, any of those who wish to honor Hope Holcomb’s memory should consider donating to the University of Houston Women’s Athletic Program, as Hope Holcomb would have wanted.

Sad we were unable to reconnect before she passed.

Hope had the most beautiful smile, twinkling eyes, and pleasant personality.
We met several years ago at the Hot Springs YMCA.
I will miss our fun visits at LH Rehab and stories from her Texas past.

Ms Hope was a wonderful, spunky, funny woman. So happy that I got a chance to become friends with her. God Bless
