
James I Walker, 78, of Conway AR, formerly of Greeley CO, passed away June 17, 2023, at his home with his family by his side.
James, or Jim as his friends called him, was born on November 9, 1944, to Harry and Marie Walker and Greeley, CO. He attended Greeley Central High School until he left for the United States Navy in 1962, where he finished his education.
Jim was stationed out of Pearl Harbor and served aboard the USS Maury off the Gulf of Siam and the coast of South Vietnam during this Vietnam War until 1966. Just four months after returning from the war, he married his sweetheart, Diane K. Peif in Greeley. They lived in Greeley for most of the first 23 years of their marriage, where they raised their two daughters. They moved to Conway, AR in 1989.
Jim is survived by his wife Diane of 57 years; two daughter Brenda (Monty) Ferrell of Conway, AR and Michelle Santeramo of Greeley, CO; three grandchildren Tyler Ryan of Greeley, CO, Ivy (Jay) Counts of Conway, AR, and Andrew (Alexandria) Ferrell of Conway, AR; great-grandchildren Avery Counts and Jack Counts, both of Conway AR; brother-in-law, Albert (Anne) Peif Jr. and sister-in-law Sherrie Peif, both of Greeley, CO; and several nieces and nephews. Jim is preceded in death by his parents; his son-in-law Mike Santeramo; a brother Larry Walker; two sisters Jean Doughman and Delores Mackey; and two nieces.
