Melissa Renee Brown-Johnston, age 53

Melissa Renee Brown-Johnston joined the heavenly choir on May 31, 2023. She was preceded in death by her father, Clinton “Charlie” Brown.

She was raised as a “military brat,” of which she was deeply proud. As a result, she was able to travel the world at a young age, most notably Japan and Germany. She was a proud alumna of the Bitburg Barons in Bitburg, Germany. She felt a deep love for Germany and considered it to be her true home.

Melissa considered her biggest accomplishment to be her three children Shawn Joseph “Joee”, age 32; Joshua “Josh”, age 23; and Savannah “Seb”, age 23.

Melissa made many friends in her lifetime with whom she remained close. One of those friends survived breast cancer, and as a result, she became an avid supporter of breast cancer research.

Melissa is survived by her loving husband John Johnston; mother June Brown; three children; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. in the chapel at A Natural State Funeral Service in Jacksonville, Arkansas. Interment will be private at Pine Crest Memorial Gardens in Alexander.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Susan G. Komen in her honor.
