So blessed and proud to have called Allen my friend. What a wonderful place he provided for all us old guys to solve all the world’s problems. His shop was a local institution for sure, and his friendly smile, quick wit, and sharp sense of humor will be greatly missed. May God comfort his family and many friends during this time of great loss. God Speed my friend.
My Thoughts and Prayers go out to Allen’s Family and to Connie and the crew at the shop. I’ve always enjoyed going in and being greeted with a warm and sincere smile from Allen and his great group. I know more than the doughnuts; it’s Allen’s laugh I’ll miss most! Love You Brother

I can’t put into words what I feel in my heart. But he knows. Rest in peace ,Allen, rest in peace.
I knew that Allen always took the 4th of July week to be off, and I wondered why the donut shop was not open this week. This is truly a shock, he was a great neighbor and a really good person. I will sure miss my conversations with him as I hit the road to work in the mornings. My prayers and condolences to all his family at this time of loss. Allen just keep em laughing up there OK?
No one is guaranteed tomorrow.
Although I only knew him briefly, Allen made a lasting impression and I could tell he had brightened the lives of many. Sending thoughts and prayers to friends and family.

Prayers for his family. The ship will never be the same without your smiles , And he gave me a hard time he would say did you just get out of bed, lol Going to miss you my friend
He was a very special man. Always listened – even if I was complaining. He will be missed terribly. Our donut man.
Allen was one of a kind with a sharp wit and a big heart. He will be missed!
Allen made my mornings & my own “perfect doughnut” every day I worked. He made getting doughnuts and coffee a tradition that is quickly disappearing. He helped far more & for more people than we’ll know. He laughed, joked & befriended so many because he was the “genuine article”. My heart goes out to his family of friends and especially to Connie, Charlie and Tammy.
I’ve known Allen since I was 14 years old and he’s always been an absolute joy to be around. Always in a good mood, always happy and ready to give me a big 2-handed hug. He will be dearly missed. RIP brother
May Jesus hold your loved ones close .. Sammy & I loved our visits & know your people are devasted as many others . Thank you all for your love , kindness & respect each & every time we visited . Allen would go out of his way to be sure my Grandson, Sammy, was appreciated.. May Gods love give you strength. In Christ always , Barbara, Jim & Sammy .
Allen made sure I had my long John every day. My husband, JD, made sure he got to the donut shop every morning to get it. We sure will miss you.
Just learned of Allen’s passing. He was a good man who taught me to make donuts without asking for anything in return,
I’ll never eat another donut without thinking of Allen and the Daylight family. No other shop will measure up to the friendly atmosphere he was able to create. He will be missed.
I am so sorry to hear of Allen’s passing. I met Allen back in the 1990’s when he owned his donut shop in NLR on McArthur. He would always have hot donut holes and chocolate milk for me and the kids on Friday mornings. He was such a pleasant soul. I ran into him again when he opened his Cabot store. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
