Cheryl Lyn Basey, age 52, of Monroe, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on September 21, 1970 to Gary Wilson Raper and Barbara Lynn Malloy Raper.

Cheryl loved to travel with her loved ones and go on adventures with her three girls and her dog, Fritz. She was an avid reader, learner, and teacher, and she cared endlessly for each of her students. She was a teacher at Roy Neal Shelling Elementary School. Cheryl’s faith in the Lord was strong, and she attended the Christ Church in West Monroe, Louisiana.

Cheryl is preceded in death by her sister Karen Raper Peterson; maternal grandmother Marilee Fletcher Malloy; paternal grandmother Mildred Moody Raper; maternal grandfather William McKinnley Malloy; and paternal grandfather George Wilson Raper.

She leaves behind her daughters Madison Hill, Claire Connell, and Anna Connell; her parents Barbara Lynn Raper and Gary Wilson Raper; and many more friends and extended family members.

The family will be honoring Cheryl’s wish to not hold any services.
