Joseph Michael Cheri (Mike), age 61, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2023, leaving behind his wife, daughter, stepchildren, grandchildren, and sisters. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on August 2, 1961 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph N. Cheri (Louise).
In addition to his parents, Mike is preceded in death by his sister Madlene Cheri.
Mike leaves behind his wife Tina Uzoigwe Cheri; one daughter Jonell M. Cheri of California; sisters Cynthia Cheri and Lillian Cheri; five stepchildren, 16 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Mike enjoyed music and fishing. He attended St. Augustine Catholic High School. He was an alumnus of the Purple Knights Class of 1980. He was an Honorary Marching 100 and Concert Band member. He worked at the Marriott Hotel in New Orleans as a Guest Doorman for many years. He was known as “The Music Man” because of his love for music.
Mr. Joesph M. Cheri was well loved in New Orleans, Louisiana where he was born and was very much loved in Little Rock, Arkansas where he resided. God knows Mike never met a stranger. Rest well New Orleans and Little Rock native son. Farewell, Mike AKA Slow Joe Cheri.
