Wilda Jean Hurst, age 94

Wilda Jean Hurst, age 94, of Sherwood, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 13, 2023. She was born in Glasford, Illinois on September 4, 1928 to the late William J. Snodgrass and Goldie B. Homan.

Jean worked as a seamstress for many years. She enjoyed crocheting and was a part of her church’s Prayer Shawl Team. Jean’s faith was strong. She was a member of the Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church for many years. She enjoyed cooking, especially baking, and was even a finalist for the Pillsbury Bake-off three times. Jean had a kind-heart and had a special place in her heart for animals. She loved volunteering at the Sherwood Animal Shelter. Most of all, Jean loved her family and will truly be missed by all who knew and cherished her.

In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her husband Ralph Hurst; her sister Ida Crall; and her brother Billy Snodgrass.

She leaves behind her children Lyle Hurst (Nancy), Susan Choitz, and Lea Hurst; grandchildren Jenny Champney (Dan), Katrina Vant (Chris), Michael Van Ingen, and Jessica Gwinn (Toby); great-grandchildren Soryn, Baylee, Chara, Aidyn, Maddy, Klaire, Evan, and Sarah; great-great-grandchildren Cora and Leia; and many more friends and extended family.

A celebration of life will be held in Jean’s honor on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at 11:00am with visitation one hour prior at Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church.

    Jean was a rare delight. In addition to all the things listed, she also delivered Meals on Wheels for years, which is how I got to know her. She was always positive and loving to everyone.

    She was A good friend to me she would encourage you she would cheer for you she was a good person good friend good sister in Christ we loved her still will even though she’s in heaven she encouraged me if I had a dream to fulfill it and I did with my books she was a wonderful wonderful friend I will truly miss my friend you’re in heaven now you’re up there with my family my daddy my dad Lawrence Frederick my heart is broken again every time I get my heart mended back together and then it breaks again it hurts your family and friends will miss you ❤️
