Carlton Wayne Atkinson Sr, age 71

Carlton Wayne Atkinson Sr. of Romance, Arkansas, born November 17, 1951, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at 11:56pm.

He was a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a husband. He was a family man that loved each and every one. He enjoyed having family gatherings, bonfires, and just simply seeing everyone that visited.

Carlton is preceded in death by his mother Vaudie Malone of North Little Rock; father Amon Atkinson of North Little Rock; bonus father Raymond Malone of North Little Rock; brother Burl Atkinson of North Little Rock; sister Wanda Bell of Little Rock; brother Jimmy Atkinson of Lonoke; and his soul mate Donna R. Atkinson of North Little Rock.

He leaves behind his wife Emma Fay Atkinson of the home; son Carlton Wayne Atkinson Jr. and wife Jamie R. Atkinson of North Little Rock; daughter Charlotte Marie Atkinson of Sherwood; son Shawn L. Sutterfield and wife Holly Sutterfield of Furlow; son Shane A. Sutterfield and wife Randalyn Sutterfield of Hot Springs; daughter Hannah Brant and fiancé Charles Gatrell of Austin; daughter Lauren R. Shaver and husband Justin Shaver of Judsonia; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters; and many more friends and extended family.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at 10:00am with a funeral service starting at 11:00am in the chapel at A Natural State Funeral Service in Jacksonville, Arkansas. Burial to follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Jacksonville, Arkansas.

A reception will be held immediately after the service at the Loop Road Church of God located at 2213 North JP Wright Loop Road, Jacksonville, Arkansas 72076.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Arkansas Hospice.

    Carlton was my brother in law but was there for me when needed. He and I had a thing when things got though, he would say “so” and I would say “ a needle pulling thread”. It was our way of saying it is not that bad or don’t stress out. I will miss him. Love to all and especially Emma who shares the loss of a husband we loved, in our way, greatly.

    Carl was my Brother-in-law…He would do anything for you, he did
    Care if you paid him , he was still
    going to do it…he sweet ,kind and love to talk
    He was the kind of man that was easy to love….
    I ask Jesus to Bless his family Emma his wife has lost her husband…and that within itself
    Is wrost than anything i can think right now….she is going to need
    Your love Lord….takes a long time to get over husband, ..if ever..
    His children, they have one heck
    Of a Dad..the longing for his presants, just the wanting to call
    for his ” hello whats you up too, fill them with love let them know where he is…give them peace…
    I love them all very much and only the best for them…
