Gwendoline Ellen Jones, age 82

Gwendoline Ellen Jones, age 82, of Jacksonville, Arkansas passed away on August 12, 2023. She was born in Wisbech, England (Downham Market) on March 10, 1941 to Winifred Burton and lived in Kings Lynn Norfolk before coming to the United States in March 1961 when she became a United State citizen in June 1969.

When Gwendoline was younger, she was a hairstylist and in her later years, she worked in the cafeteria at Jacksonville High School as well as a waitress at the former Ramada Inn in Jacksonville. In her free time, Gwendoline enjoyed watching TV, browsing Facebook, and seeing birds play in the birdbaths. She liked to collect teapots, knit, and crochet. She loved all kinds of plants and flowers.

Gwendoline is preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert E. Jones.

She leaves behind her three brothers, Alan Whaites, Andy Whaites, and Terry Whaites; six children Carlene Convis, Jerry Convis, Julie Brantley, Jnet Convis-Sandora, Robert S.W. Jones, and Justin Jones; 10 grandchildren Angela Dzuck, Randi Matthews, Nicole Whitledge-Davids, Ricky Sheffield, Anthony Allen King Jr, Alisha McCraig, Justin Brantley, Vanessa Taylor, Joshua Kelly, Brian Kelly; and 23 great-grandchildren Aidan Dzuck, Blaze Matthews, Isaac Matthews, Callie Matthews, Allison Matthews, Amelia Lindy, Damian Smith, Tye Whitledge, Mekinleigh Davids, Braydon Sheffield, Leyonna Sheffield, Alex Sheffield, Dana King, Brennon Dawson King, Raelyn Eliana King, Makaela Cheyenne McCraig, Alissa Grace McCraig, Jupiter Brantley, Jakob Taylor, Kristen Bernal, Kallen Convis, Ella Kelly, and Lexington Kelly.

A visitation will be held on Monday, August 21, 2023 from 10:00-11:00am in the chapel at A Natural State Funeral Service in Jacksonville, Arkansas. Graveside service will follow at 12:00pm at the Arkansas State Veteran’s Cemetery in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

    Our deepest sympathy to you all . Gwen was a good friend to me for thirty years . I will remember her for all our afternoon teas and laughs we used to have . . RIP sweet Gwen . 🙏🙏❤️

    I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved mother, grandmother, & aunt. She was a beautiful friend, I remember how she loved going to Dunkin’ Donuts. She always kept in touch on Facebook even though she lived far away. Rest in peace Gwen & fly high watching over all of us. 🥰🤗
