Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Richard Alvin Ford, age 79

On September 17, 2023, Richard Alvin Ford of Redfield, AR, lost his battle with Leukemia.  Richard or Alvin, which ever name you knew him by, was born December 18, 1943, in DeValls Bluff, Arkansas, to Lewis E. (Shorty) and Lois Ford.  He moved with his family to Redfield, AR, at a very young age.  He graduated from White Hall High School in 1961, and immediately joined the USAF.  At discharge from the USAF, he went to work at the Arkansas Democrat as a Linotype Repairman.

Having been brought up with a strong Christian faith, he could often be found in church somewhere playing guitar, singing, worshipping, and telling others about the Lord.  Nothing pleased Alvin more than holding a fishing pole, standing on the rocky banks of the Arkansas River (in a white t-shirt) catching fish.  Unless he was in the woods, hunting for squirrel or deer.

In November, 1978, he married Judy Perkins Guynn Ford, a marriage that lasted almost 45 years.  Their combined family includes: Duane (Rusty) Ford and Michelle, Little Elm, TX; Sonja Ford Miller and Scott, their children Clay and Anastasia, Key West FL; Patty Gortney and Robert and their daughterTiffany, Mabelvale, AR; Timothy Guynn and Kandie, their children Ben, Abby, Josie and James, Tishomingo, OK; Jamie McEwen and Randy and their children Kaden and Emily, bonus son Seamus Aubrey, TX;  And Great-grandchildren Aubrey and Dylan Williams .

He had seven brothers and four sisters; Charles Hubbard, Howard Hubbard, Kenneth Ford, Phillip Ford, Joe Ford, Jerry Ford, & Jimmy Ford, Faye Hubbard Moore, Lavern Ford Little, Juanita Ford Hughes & Dorothy Ford Bogard.

Alvin is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.  Left behind are his wife Judy, all his children and siblings Kenneth, Phillip, Juanita and LaVern.

A memorial service will be at a later date.  Please make memorials to your church or a favorite charity.

Arrangements are under the direction of A Natural State Funeral Service 2620 West Main Street, Jacksonville, Arkansas 72076. 501-981-3400. Online guestbook available at www.anaturalstatefuneralservice.com

My prayers are with Richard’s family during this difficult time. I worked with Richard for any years and we became good friends. Richard was a good provider for his family and a very solid man who believed in Jesus as his Savior. We had many conversations about everything under the sun, we use to fish & hunt together. He loved the outdoors. He could tell stories as well as anyone I’ve ever met & had a memory unlike most. Since his passing I have thought a lot of our times together. I have no concern where Richard lives forever! I proud to say he was my friend.
