Mary Ellen King was born April 6, 1946 in Arkansas to Jesse Pearl Joseph King (nee Suggs – 1903-1988) and Wilson Breckenridge King (1885-1963). She was their only child together although Mary Ellen had three half siblings through her mother who lived in the home with her growing up: Sam Alec Joseph, Viva Jean Joseph, and Letha Laverne Joseph. She also had multiple half siblings through her father’s previous marriage; they were much older than Mary Ellen and their number and names are not known to this writer.
Mary Ellen lived all of her life in Arkansas. She graduated from Wheatley High School and briefly attended Arkansas State University. She worked for many years at Jack Fines and in recent years at Hanks Fine Furniture Company, where she was a bookkeeper. She loved to read and watch movies. She supported many numerous charitable causes. She did not marry or have children, but she dearly loved her many pets and cared meticulously for them over the years.
Mary Ellen is preceded in death by her parents Pearl and Wilson, her three closest siblings Sam Joseph, Viva Joseph Shipley, and Letha Joseph Hoggard. She is survived by her canine companion Johnny and her many known nieces and nephews: Sherry Shipley Means, Cathy Shipley, Steve Shipley, Pam Hoggard Cook, Mark Hoggard, Douglas Joseph, Warren Joseph, Jason Joseph, Janet Joseph Woods, and Laura Joseph Newman. She is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews. She died in Cabot, Arkansas in her home November 2, 2023, at the age of seventy-seven. May she be united in heaven with her earthly family and know eternal peace.
