Gary W. Potts, age 71, of Monticello, Arkansas passed away on December 22, 2023. He was born in Bossier City, Louisiana on September 27, 1952 to the late James H. Potts and Hazel I. (Sanders) Potts.
In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his grandparents Cleve and Fanny Potts and William and Emma Sanders and a step-daughter Brandie Taylor Elliott.
He is survived by his brother Kenneth and wife Debra Potts of Carthage, TX; brother Kelvin and wife Cindy Potts of Mustang, OK; brother Norman and wife Judy Potts of Winnsboro, TX; brother Alan and wife Nicole Potts of Monticello, AR; sister Robin and husband David Bays of Fayetteville, PA; stepson Jesse and wife Ashley Taylor of Monticello, AR; 6 step-grandchildren Dustin Durham, Jack Elliott, Anna Elliott, Brooklyn Taylor, Morgan Taylor, and Jacob Taylor; along with two dear friends, his ex-wife Susan Potts of Monticello and Irma Dietert of Lakeland, FL.
Gary graduated from Monticello High School and went on to graduate at the University of Arkansas at Monticello where he was in ROTC. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force as a Lieutenant stationed in Arizona as a Missile Launch Officer. Gary later graduated with his law degree from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock. He practiced law in Monticello as a private attorney and worked for the public defender’s office. Gary loved his family and friends. He enjoyed reading, watching sports, and traveling. He will be missed by so many.

Attorney Gary Potts was always a very friendly man. Even though he was a professional every time you would see him he always had a small on his face along with speaking to you, he never ignored you no matter who you were. This very sweet and special man will truly be missed, God truly gained an Angel and now he will forever be taken care of!
