Michael Jay Woody, age 69

Michael Jay Woody, age 69, of Sherwood, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. He was born in Salzburg, Austria on May 7, 1954 to Robert Edward Woody Sr. and Dixie Elizabeth (Pope) Woody.

In addition to his parents, Michael is preceded in death by his sister Barbara A. Woody.

He is survived by his wife Debora Woody; daughters Christin Reese (Shawn) and Linda Flatt (David); grandchildren Kris Flatt (Catherine), Heaven McBride (Alec), Issabel Flatt, Jazmine Flatt, Trae Flatt, and Willow Flatt; great-grandchildren Opal Flatt, Jasper Flatt, and Oliver McBride; siblings Linda Eck (Ken), Robert E. Woody Jr, Richard E. Woody, and Gale Esparza; along with his friends and coworkers at the Pulaski Sheriff’s Office, his special dog Frigga, his cat Mitton, and many more pets, friends, and extended family.

Michael proudly served the United States Air Force for 23 years as a Master Sgt. He also worked at the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office for 15 years. In his spare time, Michael loved watching Texas A&M play, and he also enjoyed going fishing – even when most of the fish got away. He loved all animals and was known to be a dog and cat whisperer. Michael was very close with his children and grandchildren and will truly be missed by those who knew and loved him.

A visitation will be held to honor Michael on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 1:00pm with a funeral service starting at 2:00pm in the chapel at A Natural State Funeral Service in Jacksonville, Arkansas.
