Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

William Morris Fielding, Jr., age 79

William Morris Fielding, Jr., 79, of Cabot, Arkansas, passed away on Friday afternoon, January 19, 2024 surrounded by family. He was the son of William Morris and Edna Margaret (Crider) Fielding.

William was raised in Rose City, Arkansas and spent many happy years there. He graduated from Old Main Senior High School in 1962. He was a proud Air Force veteran who loved the country he served. William, or Bill or Billy, married his wife Vickie Ann Ezell on September 25, 1974 in Pulaski County, Arkansas and spent 49 wonderful years together. He and his wife enjoyed taking trips to research the family tree and meet distant cousins. Bill and Vickie spent many happy years together camping and fishing at Lake Nimrod, listening to live bluegrass music on the square in Mountain View, and visiting their daughter and her family as often as possible. He had a love of gospel music and enjoyed playing hymns on the piano.

He was the proud daddy of his daughter, Carol Ann (Fielding) Armitage. He spent as many hours as he could with his two amazing grandchildren, Megan Grace Armitage and Jackson Benjamin Armitage. He had a wonderful son-in-law, Nicholas Brandon Armitage, who was his football buddy. He loved camping, fishing, football, and always wanted to be outdoors. He had a beautiful relationship with Jesus and couldn’t wait to see Him.

William is preceded in death by his parents, brother Jackie Lynn Fielding, and his grandson Joshua Benjamin Armitage. He is survived by his wife Vickie Ann (Ezell) Fielding; daughter Carol Ann (Fielding) Armitage and her husband Nicholas Brandon Armitage; his 2 sisters Edna Ruth (Fielding) Marshall of Watkinsville, Georgia and her husband Frank Marshall and Linda Carol (Fielding) Fielder of Powhatan, Arkansas and her husband Jerrel Fielder. He had cherished grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends that helped him enjoy his life.

My thoughts and prayers in the worldly lost of a wonderful cousin. Billy always had a smile and loving attitude. His pain and suffering are gone as the family in Heaven celebrates.

Many happy memories of growing up together, especially during summer vacations and Christmas visits. Bill was always an easy favorite, very congenial, but also talented, smart, and a very hard worker at whatever task (even a touch of mischief sometimes!). I regret lost years after we married, but he was in my thoughts very often. I see from the obit he was able to lead a very full and likely happy life; now he is surely enjoying a new one! Peace and Blessings to everyone in the family. First Cousin Ron Crider.
