Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

David Lee Harvey, age 87

David Lee Harvey was born August 28, 1936, in Stratford, Iowa, to Walter and Lois (Goodrich) Harvey. David passed away on January 31, 2024, in Little Rock, Arkansas.

David enlisted in the U.S. Air Force at the age of seventeen and served during the years of 1953 – 69 achieving the rank of Tech Sgt. After his service in the Air Force, David worked in the automotive industry for years, including owning Metro Auto Center in Omaha, Nebraska with his brother Dan and son-in-law William.

David was united in marriage to Iris Carol Jones on December 31, 1956. While David was serving our country, Iris raised their two children in Maryland, Hawaii, and finally settled in Omaha. They retired to the Beebe, Arkansas area in the early 1980s. David and Iris had a marriage deeply rooted in faith and they centered their lives around God. They loved working their acreage outside of town and remained there until Iris went to be with the Lord in 1995. David found love again and married Verna Mae Galloway and made their home in the Beebe area. David would travel to regional gun shows with Verna Mae where he loved displaying his handmade knives.

David enjoyed many different hobbies over the years. From target practice with his rifles and pistols, fishing, farming with his John Deere tractors, to his love of making knives. He made sure that his faith remained the focus of his life and shared his faith with anyone that would give him a moment of their time. He provided bibles to others for much of his adult life and supported many missions.

David’s surviving family members consist of his wife, Verna Mae and her children Karen Phillips, Kenneth Galloway, and Sherry Eads. His grandchildren William (Mindy) Casey Jr.; Christopher (Cassie) Casey; and Michelle Casey. His great grandchildren Breydon, Quentin, Isabel, Sean, Lillian, and Liam. His brothers Walter (Arlene) Harvey; Daniel (Deann) Harvey; and many nieces and nephews.

Uncle Dave was a man who loved God with all his heart. He was never afraid to talk about the Lord with anyone he met. He was a passionate man–for the Lord and for his family. He blessed me because he was so real and sincere. He didn’t hide his feelings, and he was so affectionate. He always had a smile and a hug–even when he was so very ill! I miss him, but I’m so blessed to think that he is now in the presence of God! .
