Edward Hardin Jr, age 70

Edward Hardin Jr, age 70 passed away on Wednesday January 31, 2024 in Searcy.  Edward, who was affectionately known as Junior, was born October 23, 1953 in Searcy to the late Edward “Eddie” Hardin and Juanita Emmalee (Johnson) Hardin.

Ed was a native of Searcy, Arkansas.  He moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan in pursuit of his childhood friend and girlfriend Clara Fay Ford who moved there with her family.  The two were married on May 3rd, 1973.  They welcomed their daughter Tamara Joy on October 24, 1981.

Ed obtained his GED and employment at Butternut Bakery where he worked for several years before moving back to Searcy.  He was a lover of sports. He played softball.  He was a huge Pittsburg Steelers fan.  He also enjoyed going for walks and listening to music from many different genres.

He is survived by his daughter, Tamara and son-in-law Ricky Belton, former wife Clara Fay Hardin; grandchildren Tariana Howard and Trenton Belton, all of Grand Rapids; siblings Steve Hardin and Keith Hardin of Searcy; nephews Michael Edwards, Jordan Hardin of Searcy and Terrence Berry of Chicago; nieces Lamonika Bannister (Anthony) of Philadelphia and Taya Hardin of Searcy; as well as many other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Judith Marie Hardin Collins and Deborah Hardin and  brother, Ersell Ray Hardin all of Searcy.
