Nelia Kay Fortson, age 71

Nelia Kay Fortson, 71, of Jacksonville passed away on February 6, 2024, in Cabot, Arkansas.  She was born on October 21, 1952, in Searcy, Arkansas to Elmer and Emily Acklin-Smith.

Kay loved riding motorcycles, sewing, reading, paper crafting, and especially enjoyed cooking for her family. She attended Crossroads Cowboy Church in El Paso, Arkansas. She enjoyed canning bounty from the garden, camping, and doing anything crazy her daughter, Farrah, could convince her to do! Kay lived her life fully and will be missed dearly by everyone who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother Harold Smith; her sister Camilla Edens; and her brother Danny Kuhl Smith.

Kay leaves behind her husband of 41 years Charles Edward Fortson; her daughters Paula Kay Harness of Conway and Farrah (Scott) Walters of Cabot; her granddaughters Heather Fortson and Makayla Adams; great-grandchildren Chris, Maci, Beau, Conner, Harley, and Brayder; her sisters Jackie (Harvey) Ferguson of Texas, Marty (John) Cox of Arkansas, and Judy (Don) Turner of Oklahoma; her sister-in-law Leann (Mickey) Reed and brother-in-law Mark (Theresa) Fortson; and many extended family and friends.

Kay’s visitation will be Monday, February 12, 2024 at 1:00PM with a funeral service to follow at 2:00PM in the chapel at A Natural State Funeral Service.
