Robert (Bob) Marcus, age 83

Robert (Bob) Marcus of Seabrook, Texas, passed away on October 18, 2023, at the age of 83. He was born in San Bernadino, California on April 28, 1940, to Ernest and Edna Fleck.  Edna later married Richard A. Marcus in 1946, and shortly after, Richard adopted Bob.

Bob attended New Port Harbor High School and Orange Coast College. He started his sales career while in high school when he began selling tires and batteries for Don Lee, owner of Mobil station. Don expanded to a full tire store and Bob followed.  He later worked for Blue Streak Ignition Company, having his own company car and sales route.

Bob was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, attaining the level of Eagle Scout.  He had attained the highest number of merit badges in his troop. While in high school, he joined the Masonic Order of DeMolay, becoming Master Councilor, also the highest position in the chairs.  He soon after joined the Masonic Order, taking the third degree and continued.

Bob moved first to Duncan, Oklahoma, then to Dallas, Texas, then Conway, Arkansas, furthering his career with automotive products distribution sales. Later, moving back to Texas, Houston was where Bob managed Cargo Training International and where he retired.

Bob’s hobbies included his life-long enjoyment of fishing…from the pier in Newport, to Lake Conway, to Taylor Lake in Seabrook. Bob also enjoyed photography. His purchase of his first Nikon “F” reflex 35mm camera was a milestone.

In their later years, Bob and Deanna traveled the entire United States in their RV and also traveled the world continents.

He is predeceased by his parents, Richard A. and Edna Marcus.

He is survived by his life partner of 33 years, Deanna Bess Kelly; three daughters Nancie Norris, Robin Dahms, and Jan Wilbanks (Andy); two brothers, Rick Marcus (Joanne) and David Marcus; six grandchildren, Billy & Shawn Swiney, Gavin & Austin Dahms, Brandon & Mallory Barham; and four great grandchildren, Lyden & Zahne Swiney, and Braxton & Mason Barham.

There will be a family Celebration of Life service on April 28, 2024, in Branson, Missouri, where many family reunions had been held.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Conway Missionary Baptist Church, 2104 Harkrider Street, Suite 103, Conway, AR  72032.
