Bobby Gene Hurst, age 73

Bobby Gene Hurst, 73, of Austin, Arkansas passed away on April 25, 2024. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on July 28, 1950. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bob Lee and Wanda Jean Hurst and his brother, Ronald Lynn Hurst.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 52 years Janice Davenport Hurst, his daughter Amy (Donnie) Eckert, sons Jason (Jean) Hurst and Brian (Karen) Hurst, grandchildren Victoria (Jamal) Jones, Erin (Andrew Pons) Eckert,  Carley Hurst, Colby Hurst, Camden Hurst, Clara Hurst, Logan Hurst, Riley Eckert, DJ Eckert, and Tyler Hurst. Sister Brenda Hurst Bailey and many extended family and dear friends.

Bobby served the US Air National Guard for 24 years and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1994. He was a career instructor with the Ouachita Job Corps until he retired in 2003.

Even after a long, hard fought battle with cancer Bobby never lost hope or his love for God. He was a long time member and respected teacher at Apple Hill General Baptist Church in Austin.

To all who knew and loved him Bobby was known to be quite the character. He was an avid outdoorsman, storyteller, and jokester. He loved God, his family, hunting and Hawaiian shirts. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched.

A visitation will be held Tuesday April 30,2024 at 10:00am with a service immediately following at 11:00pm in the chapel of A Natural State Funeral service.

    Sadness fills my heart to hear of Bobby’s passing. I remember your wedding ceremony, so vividly, 52 years ago. My beautiful cousin married her Prince. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Janice, and family. I love you dearly. 🙏🏼♥️
