Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

James Dennis, age 74

James Dennis, age 74, of Sherwood, AR, went to be with the Lord on Saturday April 6, 2024. James was born on August 1, 1949 to Allie Hue and Dora Belle Dennis in Walnut Ridge, AR.

James graduated in 1969 from North Little Rock High School. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971. James was proud of growing up in the Levy area and continued to have many lifelong friends from his childhood there. James met the love of his life, Alise Dennis, in 1977, and they wed in Gravel Ridge, AR on January 5, 1980.

James was a fixer of all things, loved motorcycles, classic cars, and racing of all kinds. He enjoyed traveling and preferred driving over flying so he could see everything along the way. He loved the beach and took his family there on many trips over the years. James never met a stranger and made everyone he ever met feel like family. He could show up on your doorstep at any given time but it never seemed to be a burden to anyone. James would do anything for his family and loved his kids and grandkids more than anything. You could see his eyes light up when talking about them to any of his friends. He was the best Dad, Poppy, Husband, and friend anyone could ask for.

James was preceded in death by his father Allie Hue Dennis and his mother Dora Belle Dennis.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Alise Dennis, daughter Jamie Montgomery, son Tim Dennis (Gina), son Brad Dennis (Jessie), daughter Tori Dennis (Shane Boyer), daughter Mary Wildhaber (Chris), grandchildren Bryce, Asher, Lily, Joel, Corbin, Sage, Gracie, Meaghan, Adison, Cannen, great grandson Boston, cousins Charlotte Moss (Calvin), Alette Verkler, and 103 year old Aunt Wanza Vermilye, and many other family members and friends.

A family hosted memorial service will be held for James on Friday April 12, 2024 at 6:00 PM at Kellogg Valley Baptist Church, 9516 Bamboo Lane Sherwood, Arkansas 72120.

Cremation arrangements are under the trusted direction of A Natural State Funeral Service, 2620 West Main Street Jacksonville, Arkansas, 72076.  His online guestbook is available at www.anaturalstatefuneraslervice.com

He was good & he was fun. I had only seen him at few Levy Rat reunions in recent years & he was the same James as always. Had many good times in older days on Camp Robinson. He will be missed when stories are told & prayers are said. Godspeed James. Words fail when grief is present. May his family find solace remembering his love & kindness.

For as long as I can remember James has been close to my family as one of my father’s closest friends. Always looked forward to meeting up with James and my dad at car shows when the opportunity presented itself. And any time James was in my home it never failed that he would fix the sink or a running toilet while he was there. They don’t make ‘em any better than James. My heart goes out to his family.
