Donna Gail (Doan) Smith of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away with her loving husband John Smith by her side on May 16, 2024. Donna was born April 21, 1959, to parents George and Sarah Irene (Gilbert) Doan. She was preceded in death by her father, George Oscar Doan, brother George Thomas Doan, nephew Skeeter, great niece Harper, Aunt Rose Marie and Brinda.
Donna is survived by her husband of 48 years, John A smith; mother, Irene Doan; children, Regina (Mark) Senape, and Teresa (Dan) Davis. Grandchildren, Daniel (Jessica) Davis, Jacob (Julia) Davis and Star. Great grandson Logan Davis. Sisters Teresa Wilson, and Barbara (Ricky) Gordon, brother James (Linda) Doan. Sister-In-Laws Patricia and Kelley. Nieces Shelly (Chad), Danna, Emilie (Jeremy). Nephews Rick, Thomas (Marrissa), Kris (Ashley). Cousins Sharon and Tammy (Paul), Carolyn (Danny). Aunt Carmen (Johnny). Many other nieces and nephews and a host of great nieces and nephews, great-great niece many other family members and friends.
Donna and John met at Willow Springs Water Park. As a teenager she enjoyed going out with her sisters, cousins and aunts. They had many fun adventures together. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild and her many nieces and nephews. Donna loved to cook for her family, and she was known for making cakes and pies. Donna cared for many children in her home for years including her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Many of them considered her a second mom. Donna especially loved going fishing with her husband and dad. She had many hobbies including embroidering quilts for family members, playing bingo, going on cruises and taking trips with her family to casinos. She loved playing her slot machines.
Donna and her family would like to thank the nurses and staff members at Encore Nursing Facility and Gentiva Hospice for taking such loving care of Donna in her last days.
A visitation will be held to honor Donna’s life on Monday, May 20, 2024 from 6:00-8:00pm in the chapel at A Natural State Funeral Service in Jacksonville, Arkansas. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 10:00am at Woodson Pentecostal Church. Burial will follow at Woodson Cemetery in Hensley, Arkansas.
