Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Paul Wayne Overturf, age 86

Paul Wayne Overturf, age 86, of Austin, AR passed away on May 18, 2024. He was born on December 8, 1937 to Tom and Bessie Inez Overturf in Russellville, AR.

Paul learned his work ethic, and to face any challenge growing up on a Dairy farm.  Upon graduation, Paul joined his dad in partnership on the farm, growing a successful herd of registered Holstein cattle.

Paul was honored to serve as Class President of Cabot High School Class of 55. He loved the many reunions with his classmates over the last 70 years.  The year after graduation he married the love of his life Eva Mae Stewart. Their union produced 3 kids – Brenda, Kenneth, & Pam.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents. His wife of 56 years Eva and his daughter Brenda Ryan.

Paul is survived by his second wife, Betty Hays Overturf of the home.  His son Dr. Ken Overturf (Betty) of Waldron, AR, and his daughter Pam Boggan (Jimmy) of Austin, AR.   Paul is also survived by grandkids – Miranda Rogers, Angela Ryan, Matthew Overturf, Kolt Champlin, Katie Overturf, Taylor Champlin. Great grands Lainey Rogers, Bryce Ryan, Myleigh Rogers, James Rogers, Aldyn Overturf, and Amelia Overturf.

Paul lived his life out loud. He never met a stranger and always wanted to visit with everyone he met.

He operated the dairy farm but he lived his life through his many other activities. From the ham radios, talking to people all around the world, to water skiing.  Paul would often take the whole church group or Pam’s softball team.

Paul fulfilled his dream of getting his pilot’s license.  He enjoyed taking so many kids from town on their first flight.

Paul spent many years as a photographer.  Photographing church events, ball teams and sports events, and many weddings.  He believed in providing quality photos at a reasonable cost.  His business grew as his reputation grew.

Paul Overturf truly never met a stranger.

A visitation will be held to honor Paul’s life on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 from 6:00-8:00pm at Austin Station Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 10:00am at the church. Burial to follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Cabot, AR.

Paul will surely be missed. I had the opportunity to become friends with Paul 2 years ago through HAM radio. Paul was always nice to have a long chat with and talk about anything. God bless Paul! Prayers for his wife and family.

A good friend I met through (Ham) Amateur Radio. Sold me my land adjacent to his. We also shared motorcycle ridding and anything I needed help with or just a good friend to talk to. I have comfort knowing Paul was a God fearing man and my prayers are for comfort, peace, and love for his family. Rest in peace Paul, you will be missed.

Sad to see another one of Austin’s old timers depart – we can be sure he is in the Presence of our Lord. He was 3 years ahead of me but we were among the last to attend Austin school before we went to Cabot. May all be comforted with our Lord’s Presence-no doubt, he heard “well done.”
