Randall Evan Porter, 68, of Benton, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2024.

Randy was born in Little Rock on November 5, 1955, to Charles Clyde (C.C.) and Nona Thomas Porter.

A 1974 graduate of Benton High School, Randy studied Engineering Construction and Technology at UALR before earning his real estate license in 1986. He worked for several area companies before opening Porter Properties Inc, where he worked as principal broker until his retirement.

Randy was active in the local and state Realtor community, including serving as chair of the ARA Public Relations Committee in 1995 and 1998 and as president of the Benton-Bryant Realtors Association in 2001. In addition to his involvement with a myriad of professional and civic activities, Randy was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Benton. Also, as a born athlete, he competed in multiple sports over the years when his health permitted including baseball, church softball, hockey, golf, foosball, and pool.  Randy especially enjoyed coaching his son and friends in baseball for several years. Throughout his life, Randy was a die-hard Razorback fan, a supporter in thick and thin.

Randy is preceded in death by his parents as well as his brothers, Dr. Jimmy Porter and Gary Porter.

Survivors include his daughter, Jana Porter of Benton, and his son Glenn and daughter-in-law Jennifer Porter of Bryant, as well as a wide circle of friends and his beloved dogs. He leaves behind a legacy of civic pride, forthrightness, and an unforgettable sense of humor.

In lieu of a traditional funeral, the family is planning a celebration of life to be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 8 in the fellowship hall at the First United Methodist Church in Benton. So many memories going back decades…many of them unmentionable! LOL But we always had a great time together and I always felt safe with you no matter what, Randy. And that is so very important. You were a gentle soul filled with joy and always ready with a laugh that came from the depths of your very Soul. The world will feel your absence, old friend. Turn the music up and get the Backgammon board set up. I’ll see you in a bit.
