Sammy Joe Thompson, age 74

Sammy Joe Thompson, age 74, of Jacksonville, Arkansas passed away on May 2, 2024. He was born in Banks, Arkansas on September 7, 1949 to parents Troy Ezra Thompson and Margie Marie (Hughes) Thompson.

Sammy was an easy-going country guy. He enjoyed watching old westerns, sculpting, and eating Little Debbie’s. Everyone respecting him because he was always honest. Sammy was also very funny, and he had an incredible sense of humor. Most of all, everything was always about family. He and his wife, Jackie, were married for 56 wonderful and loving years, and they are now reunited once again.

Sammy is preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Margie Thompson; his wife, Jacquette (Jackie) Arietta Thompson; siblings Rita Faye Howard, Barbara Ann Williams, and Felton O’Dale Thompson; granddaughter Destiny Bates; and great-granddaughter Emberleigh Hillman.

Sammy leaves behind his children, Shelly Hillman (Brent), Janie Thompson-Green (Brad), and David Schiller (Linda); his grandchildren, Tabitha Lynch (Corey), Samantha Bates (Andrew), Rachel Hillman (Aaron), Keiley Schiller, and Wesley Hillman; great-grandchildren Aiden Bates, Eli Bates, Rayna Hillman, Gracelynn Bates, Jesse Lynch, Ezra Lynch, Titus Hillman, Wilden Dunkle, and Asher Schiller; sisters Bernice Drake (Johnny), Linda Byrd, and Mary Kathryn Thompson; along with a host of extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held to honor Sammy’s life on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 2:00pm with the funeral service starting at 3:00pm in the chapel at A Natural State Funeral Service in Jacksonville, Arkansas.

    I really freaking miss you pawpaw… cry almost everyday because I miss you so much, it’s been so hard for me and mom since u left. Everything reminds me on you, I love you so much pawpaw! Rest easy
