Thomas Simmons was born on June 14, 1949 in Anniston, Alabama to Rufus and Ruby Jo Simmons. He married Linda Starr Rowe on June 29, 1967.

He is survived by his wife, four sons, one daughter, and their spouses. Thomas and Tracy Simmons of Romance, AR; James and Debbie Simmons of Sulphur, OK; Daniel Simmons of Ward, AR; Jason and Angela of Romance, AR; Rebekah and Larry Parks of Cabot, AR; along with 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
