Robert Daniel Rousse, affectionately known as Danny, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at the Veterans Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was 73.
Danny was born in Miami, Florida, on December 3, 1950, to Robert Albert and Rose Marie Rousse. His mother’s love for the song “Oh, Danny Boy” led to the endearing nickname by which he was known throughout his life. After graduating from Treadwell High in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1968, Danny enlisted in the Army and served two years in Germany. Later, while living in Memphis, he started a family and lived in area until eventually moving to Heber Springs, Arkansas.
Danny is survived by his son, David Rousse (Sarah), and his daughter, Kelly Rousse Parrish (Gary), both of whom reside in Hernando, Mississippi. He was a proud grandfather to Aiden Parrish, Dawson and Cooper Rousse, and Oliver and Louis Parrish. He is also survived by his four sisters — Joanna, Susan (Joe), Robin (Gary), and Donna (Jennie).
A resident of Heber Springs, Danny found joy in the tranquility of the lake and the camaraderie at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he was a beloved member for more than 40 years. Though often introverted, Danny’s kind and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on those who knew him. His evenings were frequently spent at the VFW, where he found solace and friendship.
Danny will be deeply missed by his family, friends and the many lives he touched through his quiet strength and unwavering kindness.
A family-hosted memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 3:00pm at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post; 1989 Heber Springs Rd N, Tumbling Shoals, Arkansas.
