With great sorrow, Betty (Garner) Schaffer departed her worldly vessel at the age of 71 in Cabot, AR. As of August 12, 2024, at 9:27 am, Betty went to be with the lord and find her much deserved peace.
She is preceded in death by a wonderful husband, Samuel Schaffer; parents, Velzie M. and Dorothy (Farve) Garner; brothers, Wilburn, Velzie B., and Eugene Garner; and a sister, Mildred Garner.
Betty is survived by four children: Dallas Schaffer of Cabot, Antoinette Schaffer of Belleville, Keiko Schaffer and Marisol Schaffer; daughter-in-law, Jessica Greer; grandchildren Keedon & Zackary Schaffer, Ignacio Rendon, Dallanara Niknafs, and Maddie Westbrook; sister, Cindy Garner of Belleville; and brother, Bobby Garner of McGehee.
Betty was born on October 14th, 1952 in Dermott, AR. Growing up in McGehee and Tiller, she had a tough upbringing that made her the strong and resilient woman that she was. Her family moved to Belleville, AR at the beginning of her Senior year of High School. She later met and married Samuel on March 8th, 1979 in Ozark, AR where they had two children together. After some time, they moved to Belleville, AR and later adopted their two other children. Betty spent her time being a housewife and mother which was always her top priority. She raised and loved her children fiercely. Like so many others, Betty struggled with burdens of the past, she had a hard time forgiving herself or allowing others to forgive her, as she always felt she had to carry the burden within herself. Fortunately, on August 4, 2024, she accepted Jesus as her lord and savior. Her testimony proves that no matter what age, anyone can accept Jesus and find true peace. Betty was loved dearly by her children, grandchildren and daughter-in-law. Betty was a special person and will not be forgotten.
Roses for a Loved One
If roses grow in heaven,
Lord please pick a bunch for me.
Place them in my loved one’s arms
and tell her they’re from me.
Tell her that I love and miss her,
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for a while.
Because remembering is easy,
I do it everyday.
But there’s an ache within my heart
that will never go away.
