Carolyn Joyce Self Garner graduated from her earthly body on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 9:02am at her home in Sherwood, Arkansas. She was born Monday, November 16, 1942 in Murfreesboro, Arkansas to the late David Elbert Self and Reba Martin Self.
Carolyn, or Mamaw, depending on who you are, grew up in Murfreesboro receiving her education and graduating from Murfreesboro High School. After graduation, she moved to Little Rock with her sister to attend Capital City Business College. It was there that she met so many life long friends. On November 22 of 1961, she married the love of her life, Odos Dewayne Butch Garner… Pop. They remained married through all of the ups and downs of life and raised their two sons, Chris and David, in Sherwood, Arkansas. She was a homemaker, above all, and a member of Panola Missionary Baptist Church.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Carl Winston Self of Texarkana, Arkansas and her beloved husband, Butch, whom she has longed to be reunited with for the last 10 years.
Mamaw is survived by her sons: David (and Lisa) Garner of Bentonville and Chris (and Pam) Garner of White Hall; her sisters: Estelle Self Alumbaugh of Russellville and Donna Self White of Bentonville; her six grandchildren: Amy (and Matt) Loggins, Amberly (and Thomas) Jenkins, Rebecca (and Lance) Hawkins, Garrett Garner, Cole Garner and Carissa Garner; five great-grandchildren: Levi Mitchell Hawkins, Ryan Loggins, Reagan Gray Hawkins, Brooks Driskill Jenkins and Collins Claire Jenkins; along with so many nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends.
Mamaw would simply want to make sure that each of them and all of you know the name of and trust in Jesus.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 10:00am with funeral service starting at 11:00am in the chapel at A Natural State Funeral Service in Jacksonville, Arkansas.

What precious memories of this lady and her “Butch”! This family did it right. She loved God and her family. Thankful I knew both Carolyn and Butch. What a wonderful couple now reunited in Heaven. Prayers for the family as you spend time cherishing the life of this precious lady..
I loved my Aunt. She was a 2nd Mom. So many great memories!!!!
God blessed me with an amazing home, with godly parents who taught me the importance of loving God & my family. Mom was such a hard worker (inside & outside of the home). She worked tirelessly for her family and always put her family before herself, ALWAYS. I’m so thankful for every moment I’ve had with her and will cherish her memory until I see her & dad again soon.
Such a sweet service in tribute and honor of your mom. I like to think that Carolyn & Butch got to ‘peep’ from Heaven’s glory and see their two sons delivering such a special service. My prayers continue for all the family, and my heart holds many treasured memories. My love & prayers, Carnell Proctor
