Logan BC Hutson of Cabot Arkansas passed away August 19, 2024.
Logan (Bro. Hutson) was born October 1, 1927, in Morrilton, Arkansas. to William and Wilma (Brewer) Hutson. At the age of 17, during World War II he graduated from High School in Humnoke, Arkansas. He enlisted in the United States Navy during the war. He served as a Gunner’s Mate on board the USS Iowa. After his tour on board the Iowa he served on the heavy cruiser, the USS Columbus. After the war he returned home for 5 years. He again answered the call of duty to his country during the Korean Conflict and served 2 years as tank commander in the 4th Army. After his return home he joined the US Naval Reserve where he attained the rank of Chief Electronics Technician and as Command Career Guidance Counselor. One of the tasks that was most meaningful to him was making condolence calls to families that had lost a loved one while serving in the military. He retired from his military service of 38 years in 1987.
The most important part of his life was serving His Lord through his ministry as a Baptist Preacher. Through his ministry many family and friends were led to follow Christ. Our whole family has been blessed with so many friends that became family. He performed weddings of his children, grandchildren and many others. He was spiritual leader and counselor. He baptized, married and helped bury many friends and family alike. Men surrendered to the ministry under Logan’s preaching. It was extremely rare for him to miss a church service. People knew when he didn’t show up that something was wrong. Almost 97 years of life and 68 years of active ministry and he was no longer physically able to preach, his ministry did not stop. He sent cards of encouragement, monthly devotional books and written mini sermons out to many people. Logan served as Pastor of several churches. The first church he pastored was North Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church, followed by Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Humnoke, Ark, Faith Missionary Church in Cabot Arkansas, Hamilton Missionary Baptist Church and Cedar Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
He also served as interim Pastor of several other churches. A lot of the success of his ministry was due to his wife of 69 years, Mary Dell (West) Hutson. They were married on December 23,1950 while Logan was serving in the Army. They have had so many wonderful friends through the years that are close as any family member could possibly be. Their lives many times depended on these friends.
Logan was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mary; son Edward Eugene; Grandson Brad William Mallery; Brothers: Billie James Hutson, Howard Eugene Hutson and Jimmy Martin; Nephews: Barry Hutson, Kirk Williams and Billie Hutson.
Logan is survived by Daughter, Barbara (Bill) Mallery of Shafer, MN Sons Ronald (Cindie) Hutson of Hot Springs, Daniel (Becky) Hutson of Alexander, Sister Thresha Williams of Arlington, Texas. Grandchildren: Tara (Chad) Reemtsma, Kimberly (Peter) Gusick, Carmen Ensey, Brooke Cox, Adam Hutson, Blake (Jaylynn) Hutson, Bryson (Katie) Hutson. 5 Great Grandsons, 17 Great Granddaughters and 1 Great-Great Granddaughter. Many special nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

So many special memories of my time with Pastor BC in Humnoke. Lots of meals on Sunday in our home. It didn’t hurt that he was a distance cousin, if you have distance cousins. Special man of God and special family. Sorry for your loss
Prayers for the entire family
Bro Hutson was an awesome because he truly served God. With all his heart I thank him for his service to God and his country prayer for his family and friends
I’m sending prayers of strength to my family. I loved Uncle dearly! I surely will miss him.
Brother BC was not only my beloved pastor at North Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church; He was very instrumental in leading me to accept Jesus Christ as my Saviour. He officiated Bill and my wedding and made certain Bill was saved, as well. He knew that many marriages did not last if both the bride and groom were followers of Jesus. We were married for over 42 years until Bill passed on to heaven. Bro. Hutson, Mary Dell and their children were quite close to my entire family. We kept in touch, especially the last few years. He and I wrote letters of hope, encouragement and Christian love. He was a very important part of my life. He’s having a glorious reunion with Mary Dell, Eddie, my Mama, Daddy, my sister Lee Ann and many more souls in heaven. I thank our Lord God that he was a huge part of my days here on earth. My heartfelt sympathy to Barbie, Ronnie, Danny and families. You are all in my prayers.
Dan, Your dad’s life story is a wonderful legacy. May you and Becky take comfort in knowing he is with our heavenly Father.Kathy and I will be praying for your family.
Haven’s getting sweeter all the time. My heart goes out to the family who will miss him so much! The greeting line at Heaven’s gate is surely long.
Dana and I were privileged to be in the receiving end of Bro. BC’s letters of encouragement up until just recently. BC was a tenderhearted and loving man. We have missed Sis. Mary and will miss Bro. BC!
Bro. BC and Ms. Mary were so wonderful to me when our precious Eddie was taken from us so suddenly. I was so young and even though they were hurting so much, they made sure I was okay. I have lots of sweet memories of them and Daniel at Faith. I’m praying for all the family. Bro. BC will be missed.
I am going to miss our conversations about Jesus and politics. Mr. Hutson was a dear friend of mine. He truly was an inspiration to me. Thankful I will see him again one day.
