Thomas Allen Long “Tom” crossed the veil on Monday, August 19, 2024, in Conway, Arkansas. Thomas was born on November 6, 1961, in Buchanan, MI to Helen Elizabeth Ripley Long and Norman Alton Long Sr. Tom showed incredible perseverance and optimism through years of struggles with his health. Tom was an amputee and was dedicated to helping the amputee community through connection and donating supplies to fellow amputees. Tom enjoyed exercising his skills working with wood and bamboo, refurbishing furniture, spending time with loved ones and his dog, Buttercup, and playing guitar.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, Norman Alton Long Sr, daughter Skylar Lauren Long, two sisters, Barbara Long and Mary Caldwell, and one brother, John Long. He is survived by his two beloved sons, Jordan Tyler Long and his wife Devin and granddaughter Iris Mae Long of Sherwood, AR, and Cody Ryan Long and his wife Lydia Stanley of Jacksonville, AR, the mother of his children, Laura Sue Lee Long of Sherwood, AR, his mother Helen Elizabeth Schreck of Beebe, AR, two brothers Norman Long Jr. (Peggy Ates Long) and James Long of Beebe, AR, several nieces, nephews, friends and his church family.
Tom will be cremated with no official service per his wishes. A family-hosted memorial gathering with family and close friends will take place at Central Arkansas Worship Center in Conway, AR, on August 25, 2024, at 1 o’clock in the afternoon. Tom’s ashes will be scattered by his sons at their special fishing spot.
