Douglas Myron McCartney, Sr., affectionately known as “Big M,” passed away on August 30, 2024, at the age of 67. Born on May 24, 1957, in North Little Rock, Arkansas, Myron led a life filled with love, dedication, and a deep appreciation for his family and passions.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Leon McCartney of Bradford, Arkansas; his mother, Marjorie Faye McCartney (Crowder) of Plummerville, Arkansas; and his two brothers, Marvin Deloyne McCartney of Milan, Tennessee, and Scott Emery McCartney of Knoxville, Tennessee.
Myron is survived by his devoted wife, Robin McCartney of Mayflower, Arkansas; his brother, Craig Linn McCartney (Nikki) of Huntsville, Arkansas; and his ten children: Christy Bratcher (Brian) of Beebe, Arkansas; Douglas McCartney, Jr. (Shawna) of Conway, Arkansas; Krista Burgess (Treyson) of Des Arc, Arkansas; Coty Echols (Priscilla) of Mayflower, Arkansas; Casey Echols (Stevie) of Little Rock, Arkansas; Renee Grant of Cabot, Arkansas; Rachael Emerson (Briley) of Little Rock, Arkansas; William Young of Little Rock, Arkansas; Alisa Young of Little Rock, Arkansas; and Amanda Young of Little Rock, Arkansas. He is also survived by his many cherished grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a special family friend, Dawn McCartney.
Myron’s career took him from Arkla Gas and AP&L to selling used cars after retirement. Despite his professional achievements, his greatest joys were his faith, his family, fishing, and riding his motorcycle.
A visitation will be held on September 6, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and a memorial service to celebrate Myron’s life will take place on September 7, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Both services will be held at A Natural State Funeral Service in Jacksonville, Arkansas.

Mr. M was a gentle and loving man. I meet him at Harps. He was always a great pleasure to see and very nice. He will truly be missed.
