Glen Dane Russell, age 63

Glen Dane Russell, 63, of Jacksonville, made his final orbit around the far side of the moon Friday, October 11th, surrounded by his daughter, son-in-law, sister, and dear friends.

He is preceded in death by his beloved father: Billy Jo Russell, mother: Bonnie Russell, and Granddaughter: Madalynn Oberholtzer.

Born on August 28, 1961, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Glen, who’s railroad handle was “Mainline”, dedicated “37 years, 8 days, and 2 hours” to his work on the Union Pacific Railroad. He was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his job. He was a fourth generation railroad engineer.

A passionate musician, Glen loved playing guitar and writing songs. Glen shared his talent through singing and recording several songs. Glen carved or wrote his initials, “GDR” on everything including his guitars. His only tattoo was “GDR” inked on his wrist. He really loved to always have a good time or “tie one on”.

Glen also had a deep appreciation for the water, often found enjoying the river or Greers Ferry Lake aboard his boat.

Glen’s spirit will live on through the music he created and the memories shared with family and friends.

Glen is survived by his two daughters. Casey Rae Russell, Devin Russell Long (Jordan Long) and three grandchildren. Tyler Lee Davis Oberholtzer, Beau Fee, and Iris Mae Long. Along with Two special sisters Karyn Watkins (nephew) and Sandie Russell (Frank Russell).

His ashes will rest in Lone Pine cemetery upon his grandpa Elmer Russell and family in Clarksville, Arkansas.
