Karene Camille “Kay” Jenkins, age 83, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, passed into the presence of Jesus on October 28, 2024 surrounded by her three children and her loving husband. The Bible tells us that when we are absent from the body we are present with the Lord. We are confident that she was ready to be at home with the Lord and to be reunited with her loved ones.
Kay is survived by her husband of 65 years, Allen Jenkins, her sister Frieda Short, her three children Mark Jenkins Sr.,(Tiffany), Steve Jenkins (Julie), and Jennifer Wallace (Carter), eight grandchildren Mark Jenkins Jr., (Courtney), Dillon Jenkins, Katie Swartz (Dave), Katherine Grant (Gary), Jessica Devore (Barry), John Allen Jenkins (Elizabeth), Hunter Wallace (Casey Mae Goff), and Hayes Wallace (Katie) and nine great grandchildren. Kay was preceded in death by her mother and father, Billie Mae and Darnell Jenkins of Sledge Mississippi and by her sweet grandson Trevor Jenkins.
Kay was an exceptional businesswoman. Along with her husband Allen, she started and operated several businesses over the course of her life. For many years she served as President and General Manager of their family business Jenkins Enterprises. Kay was known for her beauty and ability. She could do anything. She was an example and encouragement to innumerable people who saw her tackling jobs that had generally been reserved for men. The success of our business is due in large part to her hard work, encouragement, innovation, and wiliness to take a risk.
While we are sad, words cannot express the peace we have in knowing that mom is walking the streets of gold, reunited with her parents and her grandson Trevor and that we will one day all be together again.
Visitation will be Sunday evening November 3rd from 5-7 pm at Indianhead Lake Baptist Church in Sherwood, Arkansas with the funeral service the following day, Monday November 4th at 10:30 am at Indianhead Lake Baptist Church in Sherwood, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Smile Train or Samaritan’s Purse. Smile Train is an organization that repairs clef palettes and restores the smiles of children in under developed areas. This was an organization that mom supported and believed in for many years.
