Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Kimberley Farmer, age 65

I imagine you are all aware by now Kim’s savior and redeemer called her home Oct. 3rd. Kim passed away peacefully with her grandson holding her hand. She fought hard to beat the aggressive cancer invading her body. Kim spoke openly and lovingly that she was a follower of Christ when an opportunity arose. I believe she was an example to those who cared for her. So many of them fell in love with her sense of humor and her willingness to do as they asked. She encouraged other patients and always had a smile for them. We were in awe of her courage and grace during such a difficult time. She was loved by so many and prayed for by people who had never met her. Her daughters and I cannot describe how much we will miss her. We are so thankful to have had her as part of our family. Father spared her a lot of pain and suffering and we praise Him for that blessing. We will grieve because we miss her but how comforting it is to know she is with Him now. We know numerous friends and family were waiting to greet her as Father welcomed her home.

Most of you know what a super fan Kim was of football. Everything came to a halt for a Dallas Cowboy or Arkansas Razorback game. You could barely carry on a conversation with her if a game was where she could watch it or hear it on the radio. She loved it!

Kim gave birth to two daughters. She dearly loved her girls and was always there for them. When her grandchildren came along, her life became all about them. She loved nothing better than showing off a picture of them or talking about their latest accomplishments. She used her time off work to take them places and have fun. She cooked their favorite foods and let them decorate her Christmas tree. She had a place for goodies and they knew right where it was. Her grandchildren returned all that love by adoring her. They called her ‘Maw Kim’. The children’s and grandchildren’s friends also knew her as ’Maw Kim’. Kim had more children by way of marriage. She accepted these daughters and sons as her own. She never referred to them as step children. They were her children.

Then there were her school bus children who knew Miss Kim would dress up at Halloween and pass out candy. Then Christmas came around they knew a sugar cane was coming their way. She took them on field trips and cheered for them at their events.

Kim requested she be cremated. She told us since she had claustrophobia, she did not want a burial. We had a good laugh over that since she wouldn’t be aware of a burial but she promptly told us that was beside the point. Sounds like Kim, doesn’t it?

The girls want to scatter her ashes so a traditional funeral will not be held. Kim drove a school bus for over 35 years and made friends with drivers, coaches and now grown children she drove years ago. Her bus driving family want to have a potluck for bus drivers and family. This is a bit nontraditional but Kim loved their potlucks and the girls felt it was a perfect way to celebrate her life. Some of the drivers want to do a tribute drive by in their bus and we also hope to have a balloon release. Kim was good friends with a driver who is a pastor and he will give thoughts of Kim and words of encouragement. Drivers will also be given the opportunity to share their thoughts of Kim. Dress will be casual. If you have something purple, wear that. Kim loved purple. Kim’s grandson requested no one wear black. I told him we could not tell people what to wear but I promised him I would mention that. Seems he has a bit of Kim in him, right?

We want to thank Elaine, our cousin, who helped keep family and friends informed of Kim’s progress with a Facebook page. It was a tremendous help to us. Hospitals and doctor appointments didn’t leave a lot of time to phone people one on one.

We thank everyone for their prayers. It was encouraging to us to know how much Kim was loved and that so many were praying for her. Father heard everyone.

A bus driver-hosted potluck will be held for bus drivers and family on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. North West Compound, 7508 MacArthur Dr., No. Little Rock, AR. There is a sign saying North West Compound with Pulaski County Special School District or PCSSD.

Arrangements by A Natural State Funeral Service 2620 West Main Street, Jacksonville, Arkansas 72076. 501-982-3400. Online guestbook available at www.anaturalstatefuneralservice.com

Wow!!! I just see that smile of yours. I adored you Ms. Kim. I remember the summer we worked together delivering food to the kids and your heart was so good and full. Whatever we had left, you made sure to find someone in need who was more than happy to get it. You absolutely loved your grandbabies, they were your world. I’m thankful I got to know such a beautiful person. You will be missed but you’re in a way better place now. My deepest condolences to your family 🙏🏿 ❤️

Ms. Kim was one of my favorite bus drivers at Crystal Hill Elementary. She was always punctual and had a smile on her face. It was evident she loved her job and her students. As a teacher on bus duty, I have missed seeing her this year. A student recently asked me where his old bus driver, Ms. Kim, was. He wanted to know if I could get her to visit the school to see him. This speaks volumes about her. I know she will be missed by many! Thank you for your service, Ms. Kim!
