Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Sandra Tate Smith of Conway, AR, was born Dec. 16, 1953 to James Elmer and Betty Baker Tate in El Dorado, AR.  After a long battle with cancer Sandra went home to be with the Lord October 12, 2024.   She is survived by her husband of 46 years Rand Smith, her son Tate Smith, brother Randy Tate, sister Jane Harris, and her precious grandchildren, Grace and Nolan Smith.  She joins her brother Greg Tate in the presence of Jesus. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

Nothing was more important to Sandra than her family.  She referred to Rand and Tate as her boys.  She and Rand continued cherished family traditions by hosting thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter for over 20 years.

She loved “digging in the dirt” as is evidenced in her beautiful backyard and decorating their home.  She and Rand shared an eclectic style that made their home inviting and comfortable.

Sandra was unassuming, compassionate and easy to please.  She demanded nothing and sacrificed her wants and desires for the sake of others.

She loved her life, her family and friends with her whole heart.  Her laugh was infectious and filled any room she was in.

Sandra was courageous, the strongest person her family has ever known.  Her love of God and faith in Jesus Christ was unwavering and sustained her in her most difficult moments.  The emotional trademark of the Christian is joy and Sandra exuded joy every moment.

Sandra’s life will be celebrated Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024 at New Life in Conway where she and Rand were longtime and faithful members.

The service will begin at 2:00PM in the church’s chapel.   Visitation held in the student room at NLC from 1:00 – 2:00PM.  Friends may greet the family at that time.

New Life Church is located at 633 S. Country Club Road in Conway (at the corner of Country Club and Dave Ward Dr.).

Flowers may be sent to the church at the aforementioned address.

Sincere condolences to the family. I am so very sorry for your loss. May God provide the necessary peace and comfort to your family and friends during this difficult time. Please remember these words of encouragement from the Bible: “ Jesus plainly told her: “I am the resurrection and the life. He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life.” —John 11:20-25.

The most joyful member of the Houseboat crew
    has left us.
She is a very fond part of my memories of those lazy summer days of our youth on the river.
From those times to even now, when I cross that Ouachita river, I think of that old two lane steel girder bridge, the river, the Houseboat, Sandra jumping the 30 feet off the railroad trestle into that dark water, and the whole “Hasbit” crew.
I hold these memories closer now as I’m sure you all do.

Our sincere condolences for such a great loss as Sandra. She was always so kind, compassionate and friendly as a person could be. I do t know if she every met someone she didn’t like. She was so proud of her Husband Rand and always talked about her son Tate in life group meetings. Even though the life group fell apart and I haven’t spoken to Sandra since I last run across her at the krogers. I feel like it was yesterday in alot of ways because of them memories. Her Husband, Her Son Tate, and them precious grandchildren was her life. I know heaven is rejoicing now that Sandra got her wings. Our thought and prayers go out to the family
