Sandra “Sandy” Mae Ables, age 67, of El Dorado, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024, at South Arkansas Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on October 6, 1957, in Los Angeles, California, Sandy was the beloved daughter of the late Roy Lional Leland Jr. and Oleta Mae Leland. On June 4, 1977, she married the love of her life, Lynn Ables. Together, they devoted over 40 years to ministry as Assembly of God pastors, serving communities across Oklahoma and Arkansas. Known for her warm heart and infectious laughter, Sandy formed deep connections with many, including her coworkers at Walmart, where she worked for over 30 years.
Sandy is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Roy Leland III; and her grandson, Tyler Scott Ables. Her vibrant personality and kindness touched everyone she met, and her laughter was often the soundtrack of gatherings.
She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Rev. Lynn Ables; her three sons, Daniel (Barbi) Ables of El Dorado, Jonathan (Emily) Ables of Calhoun, LA, and Braden Wagner of Dallas, TX; sisters, Becky (David) Burton, Linda (Raymond) Bynum, Denise Granger, Carla (Donald) Ward, and Patty (Hugh) Jones; and her cherished grandchildren, Audrey, Shayne, Zoe, Eli, Finley, Cooper, and Aspen.
A celebration of Sandy’s life will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at One Community Church at 701 S West Ave, El Dorado, AR. Visitation will be held one hour before the service (1:00 p.m.). Instead of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to One Community Church in memory of Sandy Ables.
